Under 9

Stanford under 9's went to the festival with a strong squad of 15 players. In their four pool matches saw stanford at their best, winning 3 games and drawing 1. Throughout these games Stanford's attacking play was outstanding.
The defensive play spoke for itself as they did not concede a try in any pool match.

Stanford 15 Upminster A 0
SCORERS: Daniel McAllister 1, Sam Moran 1, Albert Aldham 1.

Stanford 10 Romford 0
SCORERS: Callum Jones 2.

Stanford 0 Rochford 0

Stanford 30 Upminster C 0
SCORERS: Callum Jones 1, Christian Wood 1, Albert Aldham 1, Daniel
McAllister 3.

Stanford 5 Gravesend 5
Having won the pool Stanford progressed to the final. This was a hard fought match, with Gravesend scoring early in the first half. Stanford worked hard to equalise the score before half time. The second half was as tough as the first, with both teams attacking and defending at their very best. The outcome was a 5-5 draw, the Cup being shared.
SCORERS: Callum Jones 1.

Coaches Comment:- A big thank you to all the squad for their hard work & commitment. A well deserved win.

Last but not least players & parents voted for captain & vice captin for the
season. Captain is Callum Jones. Vice Captain is Kallum Lennox, well done to
you both.

Under 10

Upminster A 30 Stanford 0
No excuses, the team got caught totally cold against quality opposition. The hosts ran rings around the Stanford backs and were much more 'up for it' than Stanford, and the hosts winning nearly all the loose ball.

Romford 10 Stanford 0
Stanford let their heads drop after a drubbing by the hosts in the previous match, letting opportunities slip against a side they are capable of beating, with repeated handling errors and poor positioning.

Rochford 0 Stanford 0
Again, letting opportunities slip, at least Stanford woke up a little to show more commitment and aggression than previously.

Chelmsford 5 Stanford 10
Finally got the victory that they needed, and finally showed some real character against admittedly weaker opponents.

Michael Woods and Dan O'Flaherty were the try scorers.

Unless the hard lessons regarding ball retention and recycling and defensive lines are learnt, the under 10's will be in for a tough season.

Thanks to all the Parents who contribute in various ways to making this a tight-knit squad.

Under 11

Upminster 25 Stanford 0
Stanford just did not turn up for this game, although Upminster were well drilled the visitors did not put up much opposition and therefore suffered.

Stanford 0 Romford 5
This was the most disappointing match of the day, Stanford must still have been shell-shocked from the previous game with many uncharacteristic mistakes. One to forget.

Stanford 30 Harlow 5
After conceding an early try Stanford recovered quickly and started to play in the way we have grown used to, solid forward power play linking to accurate, expansive back moves. Stanford showed good character to recover from the first two matches.

Tries by : Adam Dawson 2, Sean Houlihan 2, Sean Bunney, Dominic McDonald.

Under 12

Stanford U12's found the going tough at the Upminster Mini Festival but played some great rugby against some of the toughest teams in Essex.

Stanford 0 Upminster A 25
In their first game they played Upminster A team. It was a disastrous start and the opposition scored 2 quick tries. Stanford responded well to this wake up call and tried valiantly to score. Despite their efforts Upminster scored again before half time. The Second half was better for Stanford but their opponents were determined to put in a big performance and score twice before the final whistle.

Stanford 0 Romford 15
Stanford's second game was a bruising encounter with a very aggressive Romford & Gidea Park side. Romfords forwards battered Stanford but time after time Stanford was up to the challenge. Romford managed to score just once in the first half. In the second half Stanford battled bravely but Romford scored twice again to make the final score Stanford 0 Romford & Gidea Park 15. Romford went on to win the pool and were just beaten in the final by a single try by Chelmsford A.

Stanford 0 Rochford 5
Stanford's third game was against Rochford. This game was a close battle with Stanford just losing out to a try late in the second half.

With three defeats in a row it would have been easy for Stanford to just give up but the boys were having none of it. They were determined to get a result. Their fourth and final game of the day was against Chelmsford B.

Stanford 5 Chelmsford B 5
Despite being a B team they were a big and powerful side and Stanford found themselves under pressure from the start to finish. Chelmsford B took the lead before half time with a good forwards try. Stanford rallied in the second half and had a number of promising attacks with the back line breaking through the Chelmsford defences. The pressure told and outside half Luke Dawson was rewarded with a great try. Final score Stanford 5 Chelmsford B 5.

The Stanford's player's player of the festival was Full Back Mitchell Young for his heroic efforts in defence. Other players who really shone were centre Tristan Barry and prop Alex Redin-Moore.

The coaches and parents were so pleased with everyone's efforts and know that as the season goes on the team will continue to improve and achieve event more success.
