UNDER 7

After a 2 week break due to reasons beyond our control, the U7's were a bit match rusty this week against a good, slightly physical SWF side, losing the first game and drawing the second. They still showed great determination, scoring some well worked team tries.

STANFORD 25 SWF 45

Try Scorers: Cerys Jones 2 , Alex Rapley 2 and Ben Clark.

STANFORD 35 SWF 35

Stanford's improvement over the last couple of weeks continued with a strong performance against SWF.

STANFORD 45 SWF 15

Try scorers were Jack Knight (5), Vinny Gordon (2), Marcus Edgeway and Ben Kelly.

STANFORD 45 SWF 45

Game 2 was equally good but with SWF also showing strongly. The result was a 45-45 draw with good running/passing by both teams.

Try scorers were Ben Kelly (3), Vinny Gordon (2), Max (2), Matthew Hook and Jack Knight.

Special mention should go to Vinny Gordon, who won this week's  parents award for good behaviour and improved perfrormance for some outstanding tags and a great solo try.

STANFORD SHARKS 25 SWF 0

After 2 weeks of hard training the sharks came out blazing with a well constructed win against a large and aggressive South Woodham side. The red man had to fight hard in every inch of the pitch and put some great phases of play together to score 5 fantastic tries. It was clear that the boys enjoyed this win, trying out new moves picked up in the previous weeks.

Try Scorers: Christian Wood, Daniel McAllister, Aiden Cronin, Nico Pike, Callum Jones.

STANFORD LIONS 50   SWF (Development) 0

With the Essex festival looming, the Lions made sure that everyone of them was noticed by the coaches. The front row looked strong and with excellent running from the backs there was only one way traffic on the pitch. With rolling subs in unusual positions the Lions were far too strong for the South Woodham boys.

Try Scorers: Brannan Gower, Thomas Thurston, Robert Smith, Charlie Downes, Nico Pike 3, Callum Jones 2. Captain for the day Conner O'Houlihan.

Coaches Comments:- Well done boys, two great wins put together with some fantastic rugby. Rucking and mauling was superb, keep up the good work.

STANFORD 17 SWF 19

The home side started well and built a healthy 17-0 lead, before the visitors staged a comeback to pinch the game at the end by two points.

Early on, Stanford's scrummaging kept South Woodham on the back foot, but after the break, the hosts lacked focus and let their opponents back into the game.

The game included second row Klay Smith's first try for Stanford, galloping from his own half in a powerful run.

Tries: Dan O'Flaherty, Klay Smith, Michael Woods.

Con: Dan O'Flaherty.

STANFORD 24 SWF 7

This time, Stanford did not let the visitors off the hook and continued to dominate possession and territory throughout the match, showing good touches of flair as the match went on.

This included a cheeky chip and chase by fly half Josh Gochmanski, which he touched down himself after beating the opposition defence to the ball, and a well-timed pass from centre Alfie Edmeades to full back Dan O'Flaherty, who ran virtually the length of the pitch to score..

Tries: Alfie Edmeades, Dan O'Flaherty, Josh Gochmanski.

Cons: Josh Gochmanski, Alfie Edmeades.

STANFORD 35 SWF 0

Stanford were back to full strength and very eager for this game. From the whistle they overwhelmed there plucky opponents, Stanfords forwards had a great game, rarely losing a scrum and dominating ruck, maul and lineout and with ball in hand surging through the visitors defence. It was not all about the forwards, with such good service the backs had ample oppurtunity to show their skills and they took full advantage, mixing the attacks and keeping the defence guessing,  at the break Stanford had scored 5 tries.

The 2nd half saw five new players in the home side and there was no real change in performance, the only differance was a superb defence from the visitiors who managed to restrict the amount of tries to two, the new players gave a very good account of themselves and showed real promise.

Tries by: Sean Houlihan 3, George Taylor 2, Musa Yusuff, Ryan Cronin.

STANFORD 25 SWF 0

Recent fixtures has shown an Achillies heel in Stanfords game with an over reliance in certain positions, this was a good chance to `blood` players in unformiliar positions and they all responded very well. It seemed that South Woodham had gained confidence and their defence steadily improved as the game went on.

Stanford still produced many oppurtunities only to be frustrated by some outstanding tackeling behind the try line, however the pressure was relentless and the home side scored 5 times. Another excellent display. Credit must go to South Woodham who despite being under such pressure in both games did not let their heads drop.

Tries by: Sean Houlihan 2, Jacob Dennis, Connor Gilham, Adam Dawson.
