A special mention to James Ramsey and Jake Hornsby who volunteered to play for Wasps, as they were a couple of players short.

STANFORD SHARKS 40  WASPS A 0

Wasps arrived at Stanford with a full squad of 20 players. The first game started with a very physical but fair Wasps side. The Sharks took a few moments to adjust but with some outstanding play managed to prove too good for their opposition.

Scorers were Brannon-Lee Gower 2, Nico Pike 2, Aiden Cronin 2, Sam Moran, Daniel McAllister.

STANFORD LIONS 15  WASPS B 5

Wasps B side took the lead with a well worked try but the Lions hit back with three of their own. The Lions are proving to both coaches that they are improving with every game they play with a great display of rugby. Well done to you all.

Scorers were: William Ryan, Connor Houlihan and Thomas Thurston.

STANFORD 40  WASPS 0

At the request of the Wasps coaches a third game was played. The Sharks played the first half  and the Lions the second half.

STANFORD 12 WASPS 21

Stanford produced a good first half display to lead at half time. Wasps performed well in the second half, but with a little more composure the home side could and should have won the match.

Tries: Brad Oakley, Paul Carter

Con: Alfie Edmeades

STANFORD 5 WASPS 7

More of the same, Stanford led until close to the end of the match, but could not hold out under pressure. The match was notable for the good work of the second rows Klay Smith and Louis Webb and strong leadership from Captain Michael Woods.

Player of the Day: Michael Woods

STANFORD DEVELOPMENT 40 WASPS “B” 0

On a bitterly cold, windswept park it looked as if the conditions would ruin any semblance of rugby but to everyones surprise it turned out to be a very entertaining game. The Wasps `B` side were a very capable outfit but they were just not allowed to get into their stride. The second row pair of Connor Lalieu and Ryan Merritt looked very strong in the scrums and mauls and with new boys Jordan Evans, Aarron Sweetenham and Kieran Tubby being very busy it was no wonder that the lions share of possession went to the home side. Once the ball came out to the backs the level of handling defied the freezing weather and Stanford scored almost at will.

Tries By: James Kitchen 3, Dominic McDonald 2, George Taylor, Ryan Cronin, Joe `Red` Reilly.

STANFORD 5 WASPS 15

This was a hard fought affair with nothing between the sides for a long period. It then appeared that Stanford lost their focus which led to uncharacteristic mistakes in defence resulting in two tries for the visitors. There was no decline in effort but the home side struggled to get back their rhythm and they just could not turn pressure into points.

Midway through the second half it seemed that Stanford could well score but Wasps pounced on a loose ruck ball and run in a third try, the home side did not let their heads drop and continued to test the visitors and were justly rewarded when Sean Houlihan made a powerful run to score late on. It seemed that the Stanford lads tried too hard, however the better side on the day won and full credit must go to all the players from both games who played extremely well in very testing conditions.

Try; Sean Houlihan.
