Stanford for once started well and dominated the match with a good performance by the forwards.

Tries by Josh Gochmanski, Louis Webb.

Stanford 5 South Woodham 15

Overconfidence was the problem in a match that Stanford could have won.

Try by Brad Oakley.

Stanford 0 Westcliff 20

In the final pool match, Stanford needed to win to top the group, but failed to rise to the occasion and Westcliff dominated the forward battle.

This result meant that Stanford were through to the Bowl semi-final to face Romford.

SEMI-FINAL

Stanford 10 Romford 5

Stanford scored twice in the first half and played with far more passion than in the pool matches. They held on in the second half against a good Romford side to go through to meet Braintree in the Final.

Scorers: Brad Oakley, Michael Woods.

FINAL

Stanford 0 Braintree 15

Although Stanford battled on, they ran out of steam against a good Braintree side and failed to match their passing skills in difficult conditions.

UNDER 12

ESSEX Plate Winners.

Upper Clapton 0 Stanford 10

The opening fixture against a strong Upper Clapton squad showed the level of intent that Stanford brought to the Essex Festival, they played good rugby and won this encounter with relitive ease. Tries by Sean Houlihan 2.

Chelmsford 5 Stanford 0

Stanford were very unlucky to lose this game, both teams were evenly matched and it was only an oppertunist try that separated the sides, Stanfords full back was convinced he grounded the loose ball but the ref did not see it. Chelmsford went on to win the competition.

Romford 0 Stanford 25

Romford caught the backlash from the loss against Chelmsford, Stanford dominated all areas and confidence was high going into the plate semi-final.

Tries by: Sean Bunney 2, Sean Houlihan 2, James Kitchen.

SEMI-FINAL.

Westcliff 0 Stanford 10

The home side started strongly but the Stanford lads were in no mood to lose this semi, they tackled everything, the forwards were excellent in scrum and loose play and the backs showed that they can play good rugby in any conditions. Stanford never really lost control of the game and proved worthy winners.

Tries by Ryan Cronin, Sean Houlihan.

FINAL.

Maldon 0 Stanford 10

The weather conditions detetiorated steadily all day and by the time of the final they were truly awful, it was a credit to both squads that they played to such a good standard. The Stanford lads stepped up a level and put in a brilliant performance. The forwards were powerful in every department and unselfishly gave the backs plenty of ball. The backs were outstanding in defence and attack, they mixed up the attacks, showed lovley skills and kicked intellegently when required. A well deserved victory from a squad who only conceeded one try in five games against some very good teams.

Tries by; Musa Yussuf, James Kitchen
