STANFORD 25 UPMINSTER 35 The second game was a much more evenly contested one, with both sides making mistakes but also some excellent scoring opportunities. with Stanford again showing great improvement as in the first game, with their attack and support play, but it was Upminster that ended on top again 7 tries to 5. UNDER 10 STANFORD 30 UPMINSTER 20 Stanford were up against one of the top teams in their area and in the first match played their best rugby of the season, moving the ball along the back line with great speed and precision. The forward play was also top class and a great return to form for James Hutchinson who was man of the match. Try scorers: Harry Taylor 2, Harry Tillett, Jack Cochrane, James Hutchinson, Thomas Ramsey. STANFORD 5 UPMINSTER 20 In the second game Stanford's small squad was tested to the limit as the hard pitch took its toll, with players dropping like flies. With only 8 players for much of the second half, Stanford could not keep up and eventually went down 20-5 with Ryan Bunny scoring. |
UNDER 11 STANFORD 34 UPMINSTER 7 The U11's had the chance to play newly crowned Essex Champs Upminster on Sunday. However, it became apparent that the visitors had only bought a handful of their first team! The Stanford boys dominated every minute of the first half with a powerful display of attacking rugby running in 6 tries. In the second half the coaches decided to experiment with the team, enabling some of the newer players to get a taste of the physical side of rugby. Try scorers: Thomas Thurston, Connor Houlihan, Charlie Downes 2, Sam Moran 2. Conversions: James Heys, Sam Egar. Defensive Player: Nico Pike, Callum Jones. STANFORD 36 UPMINSTER 7 The second game was yet again dominated by the redmen from start to finish. Hopefully, Upminster may think again before they bring along their second team and show Stanford U11's some respect. Try Scorers:- Connor Houlihan 2, Nico Pike 2, Charlie Downes, William Ryan. Daniel McAllister, Brannon Gower, Christian Wood. Defensive Player:- William Ryan, Connor Houlihan. We would just like to thank Jo, Jen, Kath, Jacqui, Terry, Lisa, Carolyn, Chloe and Rhianna for all your help in the kitchens this week. Many Thanks. |
