UNDER 8 Sunday's U8's matches at Chelmsford RFC were played with great commitment from both sides on a lovely sunny morning. Stanford again showed great improvement in all aspects of the game especially in their attacking support play, scoring some wonderful tries in all three games. The first two were both close affairs and with Stanford only having 6 players Chelmsford kindly lent a player for both games, (a special thanks to Ben and Jamie). Each side winning one with the same score of 8 tries to 7. In the third and last game Stanford were up to a full 7 players, but due to not having any subs showed signs of tiring and Chelmsford finally won the game 11 tries to 8. CHELMSFORD 40 STANFORD 35 Try Scorers:- Ben (Chelmsford)3, Thomas Cubitt 2 with Callum Pluck and James Ramsey 1 apiece. CHELMSFORD 35 STANFORD 40 Try Scorers:- Thomas Cubitt and Callum Pluck 3 each, James Ramsey 2. CHELMSFORD 55 STANFORD 40 Try Scorers:- Clarice Frampton-Webb , Callum Pluck and Thomas Cubitt all getting 2, Ben Clark and James Ramsey 1 apiece. |
UNDER 9 CHELMSFORD 20 STANFORD 10 Stanford started well, scoring first through Jack Knight with a quick thinking run and dive for the corner. However, Chelmsford struck back and led 10-5 at the break. With the slope in Stanford's favour in the second half, the team were confident they could pull this around and a fine Callum Newton try gave them hope, but Chelmsford proved too strong and edged the second half by 2 tries to 1. The score could have been different with Ben Kelly crossing the line only to be held up, Max Clarke coming close in the corner and a break by Callum Newton leading to nothing when he mistook line markings on the pitch for the try line. a story of if only ... CHELMSFORD 25 STANFORD 0 Stanford were never in this game, and let Chelmsford big forwards dominate from the start. Heads went down early and the boys didn't perform as they could have. Less said the better on this game. |
