The Senior tour will be organized by Bert Higgs and Russell Jackson for some time after the 21 Feb ( end of league fixtures )

Ladies Team News: The Ladies have continued to train during the close season and already have 6 fixtures lined up for next season, home and away against Thames, Basildon and Medway.

Ladies tour to Bognor is set for September 26th.

Youth News: Next season we will host a schools competition for years 7, 8 and 9.

U17 will not be entered into the league but will play friendly fixtures against similar strength teams.

The Minis tour will take place on 24-26 April.

See the Stanford RFC Committees' message>>> for the 2008-09 season

There will be a ‘Coaching Team' this season that will consist of Steve Pearce, Darren Watkins, Dave Kelway (Scrumpy), Scott Cooper and Tony Gochmanski.

Training will be structured and enjoyable (fun!). Please make the effort to train.

This season's membership fees will be £50; however there will be a £15 discount for prompt payment. Fees paid before 1 st October will therefore be £35 (New members will get 5 weeks grace for the discount).

The committee has decided to enforce a ‘no pay/no play' policy, which means if you have not paid your membership fees you will not be able to play. You'll all agree this is fair.

A vote of thanks was given to Bert Higgs at the AGM for all the time and effort he has put into the club over many years as Chairman. Darren Watkins was voted in as the new Chairman and Tony Gochmanski and Ryan Trigg were elected as 1st team Captain and Vice-Captain. 2nd team Captain will be Russell Jackson with Dave Payne as Vice-Captain.

Well done to Dave Payne for taking on the role of Seal of Approval co-ordinator. This will take quite a lot of time and effort, but will be rewarding for the Club in the long term.

SCRUM IN THE PARK

The scrum in the park on Sunday, 2nd September was great day out for all the family.

After taking the train down to Regents Park, the Stanford boys and girls found lots of fun activities to do, and were coached by many of the top community coaches attached to England and the Premiership clubs. These activities included touch and tag rugby, working on basic skills such as passing, kicking,side-stepping and scrummaging, and lots of bouncy castle type stuff.

They also had the opportunity to mix with England and Premiership players during the day, including the likes of Josh Lewsey, George Chuter and Captain Phil Vickery. The England players were very approachable, and talked to the children and signed autographs all day.

At the end of the afternoon, the crowd of 20,000+ wished the England squad all the best as they went off to prepare for the start of the World Cup next week.
