Welcome to Season 08/09
|
27th August 2008 As the new season approaches the committee would like to welcome you back, refreshed and full of enthusiasm for the season ahead. Last season we finished with a very positive attitude and the club going in the right direction. We're sure that the coming season will be a good one for Stanford RFC. Pre-season started on Tues 1st July & Thurs 3rd July. New 'Stanford Drill Tops' should be available for sale by the start of the season. The 1st XV captain this season will be Tony Gochmanski with Ryan Trigg as vice-captain. The 2nd XV captain will be Russell Jackson with Dave Payne as vice-captain. There will be a 'Coaching Team' this season that will consist of Steve Pearce, Darren Watkins, Dave Kelway (Scrumpy), Scott Cooper and Tony Gochmanski. Training Will be structured and enjoyable (fun!). Please make the effort to train. This season's membership fees will be £50; however there will be a £15 discount for prompt payment. Fees paid before 1st October will therefore be £35 (New members will get 5 weeks grace for the discount). The committee has decided to enforce a 'no pay/no play' policy, which means if you have not paid your membership fees you will not be able to play. You'll all agree this is fair. There will be a team selection committee consisting of Tony Gochmanski, Ryan Trigg and Russell Jackson who will be taking advice from the 'Coaching Team'. Smart dress including a white shirt and club tie is compulsory at all league and cup games. Also at home games players shall sit at a table and eat with the opposition. Attendance at training will be vital for selection to the 1st XV. Tony says "We need a team with a 'WINNING' attitude to achieve our potential, I don't want to just compete, I want to WIN!! We have the ability but we need to train as a team to make this possible. Players who show ability, committment and desire to win will be selected". There will be some 'team/club bonding' social events for ther players this season, which we hope the majority of you will attend. Lets enjoy the social side of rugby too! STANFORD RFC COMMITTEE |
